Barbie's
Corner Galaxy Quest's star Sigourney Weaver on her character, Gwen DeMarco and her character's character, Lieutenant Tawny Madison: Very genuinely, she would feel that it was good to look like Barbie --Great flick, great country. One of the FUN things about living in a time of decadence, change, and renewal is that the unexpected is always around the corner. While browsing through a copy of Inc. we noticed a young woman in a Northwest Airlines ad perched precariously atop an old free standing magazine shack,. She was brandishing a laptop and an attitude! she turned out to be Stefanie Syman, co-founder of a very hip and eclectic e-zine called FEED Since our motto since 1997 has been Your Cultural Hot Dog Stand on the Net, and FEED actually has a Hot Dog stand on their mast head, we were immediately intrigued. FEED is intriguing, well written, and thoughtful.. It has a broad range of articles spanning what would have once been called the left to the right. For instance they have a particularly trenchant article on culture and the movies by FEED cultural editor, Alex Abramovich, entitled Cinderella Story This thoughtful piece about the decline of intimacy and the notions of self and community is, ostensibly, about Julia Roberts. In fact, it is actually a candidate for inclusion in Jacques Barzun's new opus, From Dawn to Decadence: 500 Years of Western Culture. In another wonderful article, Immaterial World , in a column entitled IDEΙ FIXE: , Julian Dibbell explores the relationship between collectors and the artifacts they love, using the MP3ing of his music library as a referant. Founded in March of last year, FEED has a sense of cultural humor and history. For instance, in their initial issue was a section on Liberation Technology: The Open Source Software Issue (March 1999) with an article What Is To Be Done?, sporting the same title as the famous 1902 polemical tract by the 20th century dictator and Gulag precursor V. I. Lenin. Our advice: Check them out!
